Specialty Care Helps Reduce Risk of Heart-Related Deaths

By taking a proactive approach to preventive care, Americans can greatly reduce the incidence of heart disease and stroke and save billions of dollars while doing so.

New data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reveals that in 2016, 80% of heart-related deaths were preventable. That year, heart disease and strokes were responsible for more than 415,000 deaths and 2.2 million hospitalizations of middle-aged Americans, at a cost of over $32 billion in related health care expenses.

Heart-related conditions are among the specific diseases and risk factors that MedBen WellLiving identifies for one-one-one intervention and management. Our Specialty Care Program contacts plan members that would benefit from specialized nurse coaching and offers customized education and counseling to help them reduce their risk of chronic (and costly) conditions.

Employers with better health records benefit from WellLiving, too. Our focus on primary prevention puts the physician first, promoting an ongoing doctor-patient relationship that spots potential conditions before they have a chance to worsen.

Wellness works best by reducing risks that lead to preventable diseases. Learn more about how MedBen WellLiving can work for your group by contacting Vice President of Sales & marketing Brian Fargus at bfargus@medben.com.
